Recyclable materials: a trend that continues!

The trends in interior design are constantly changing. The country style replaces the minimalist furnishings, after which the Scandinavian style finds its way into our homes. However, there is one trend that will continue in the future, and that is that recycled objects will always be in vogue. In fact, it’s believed that their golden days in interior design are yet to come.

Do you like minimalism, do you love white combined with grey or black, or do you prefer rustic motifs? In both cases, you can add the finishing touches to your home with sustainably made accessories. There are chests of drawers made from scrap wood, designer chairs made from used plastic bottles, or floor coverings and floor mats made from worn car tires.

Furniture made of newspapers, plastic bottles or clothes? Why not!

In the morning, at breakfast, over coffee or with their favourite tea, many people read the daily newspaper. But this is also the end of the short life of this paper. Ecologically-minded designers have dedicated themselves to this fact and have extended their lifespan many times over by making armchairs, conference tables or stools from old newspapers.

The amount of plastic bottles we consume every day is also a major ecological problem. For example, there is already furniture made from recycled PET bottles. The production remains the same, the plastic is deformed and no additives other than resin and screws are required.

In 1991, designer Tejo Remy came up with an exciting idea. He has designed armchairs from old clothes. The whole construction, which consists of remnants of clothing stacked on top of each other, is held together with metal bands. The design seems very simple, but the armchair definitely attracts everyone’s attention and makes you think.

Wood scraps can also be processed into an eye-catching piece of furniture. An unprocessed tree stump as a table or a clothes chop made of reclaimed wood can give your home a lasting flair.
